April 14th update

We continue on the birds are well and with lovely warm weather it has been a wonderful to get out and fly them. These moments are joyful – finding it where you can at the moment in these difficult times. I include a spring photograph of a hedgerow with wild spring flowers of celandine and bluebells while out walking with the dog nearby.

Update 5/4/20

Well the nightmare of coronavirus continues. We all hope that the peak is somewhere near and the long road to any kind of recovery would perhaps start – but we do not know.  The longer the shutdown lasts the more likely that people will forget how we lived before and things in the future will be profoundly different and many business’s will not restart but be lost forever. But we have agreed collectively that lives have to be protected and these are the consequences – we accept that but pain is on every level.

My business is on hold. I have continued to fly the core team of birds – it would be irresponsible not to as we must be ready to start up when the time is right and also of course for animal welfare reasons the birds need to be flown. So we combine everything in one daily movement, the dog, shopping for an elderly relative and flying the birds. So far so good.

Our young falcon ‘Frank’ is doing well and I am enjoying flying him. He replaces ‘Brian’ who we lost year. It is a like for like replacement both being male lanner falcons or lannerets. Frank is doing well and hopefully we can do some important development work  – uninterrupted because I have no events on – before he goes into his first moult sometime in the summer. So it should be the making of him. I will sign off with a picture of him taken the other day. Note is brown first year plumage.
