7th May 2020 – update.

We continue to fly the birds everyday. Hopefully on Sunday the lockdown measures may be eased and we can start flying ‘Sprite’ the peregrine again. He is fine sitting in his loft but of all the birds we fly he is the most losable – chasing pigeons. I do not want to be looking for him during lockdown!

All work has been cancelled and our sector will be the last to open up as we are linked to hospitality and leisure. Hopefully at some point – late summer perhaps we will get a clearer picture. We are taking bookings for next year which has to be a good sign.

On the bird front ‘Bo’ our Eagle Owl is 32 years old now and it is time for her to retire from displays. It would have happened anyway but the lockdown has brought matters forward . She can enjoy the rest of her days at home have the summer off and moult through. We may buy another owl in due course and start the whole process of training again but I think for the time being – until the future is more certain – we will hold off.

I sign off with a picture of ‘Bo’ flying just before Christmas.
