24th January 2021

Awoke this morning to snow! If I had an event on I will fly in the snow but not today – nothing on – as we all know. The birds stayed snug and warm in their aviaries the two young falcons ‘Frank’ and ‘Troy’ with their heaters on were fed on the fist in the hawk room. The rest of the day I spent working on some aviary loft drawings for a falconry friend. I will at some point publish the drawings for the loft/weathering design for anybody who may be interested. Material costs are notably high that the moment – variety of reasons – but I guess even a stronger argument to spend wisely and get it right. Purpose built structures are almost always better than shed conversions.

Our dog loved the snow as do others. Anyway here is a picture of Madam this morning. I tried to get the sun to shine on her but alas I kept missing the odd moment of illumination. Here she is.

January 2021

Well Happy New Year to everyone. Well the depressing news is that we are in lockdown again without any idea of how long it will last. The new Covid 19 variant is very contagious and we are not going to quietly vaccinate our way out of the pandemic hence the full scale headlong rush to get the vaccine out there. By mid February or earlier we will know whether the end is in sight.

Of course this is effecting the bookings as organisers wait and see but there is a feeling that the joy of freedom might energise the economy and things will really get going again.

The weather here has been cold – what with global warming I have heard the weather being described as unseasonable! anyhow with the two young falcons the heaters have been running 24/7. We look forward to getting ‘Frank’ our male Lanner Falcon from 2019 flying and doing some events. ‘Troy’ our 2020 Peregrine/Lanner hybrid has been flown straight through and I hoping he will be a great addition to the team.

I will end with a nice picture of one of our Lanner Falcons in flight. I pretty much certain it isĀ  ‘Pippa’ a really lovely falcon.
