February 2019.
A quiet month in terms of bookings – it always is. I have taken the opportunity to continue work on the aviaries – basically renewing sections and refurbishing others. I am quite pleased with the results – more to do but I can see the difference.
The weather has been good for this time of year and we have been flying every day – as always weather permitting and with slightly longer days one is reminded that the show season is soon to be upon us. With this in mind I am beginning to slowly prepare the birds of prey for this period by adjusting their conditioning.
Brian our Lanneret is out of his winter aviary now and soon will be flying – he is such a show off! and a great falcon to fly at shows.
The knowle is greatly changed now due to the start of its development for housing – though no doubt this is someway off. We continue to use the area at weekends and I walk it most days with the dog. It is packed with wildlife – due to its unkempt nature. The Buzzards which failed to breed last year – I speculated that they were a young pair are spending much time in their home tree and maybe this year they will breed. I hope so – it will be fab!
With this in mind I sign off which a picture of the area taken in 2017 when this field was growing corn. It had recently been harvested. One of the straw stacks waiting to be collected was set on fire and burned for two weeks!
Anyway here it is with the Peregrine pylon in the background.
